There are four major ways to share music via your 360 space: You must use a MP3 file that's been uploaded to an online music/file hosting site. There are FREE accounts available at http://www.imeem.com , http://www.ripway.com , http://www.fileden.com , http://www.sendspace.com , http://snapdrive.net , http://www.esnips.com/ , and many more. These services - after you upload the music - will provide a URL address for each file. If the site has an embeddable player, it will provide an EMBED code as well. No file uploading is required to share your Yahoo Launchcast. NOTE: You may need to use multiple sites. Make sure to read the FAQ, Help, and Terms of Use for each service you consider. In the event that your music files are WMA files or another format, I recommend installing and using the conversion program called Switch (http://www.nch.com.au/switch/ ) OR make sure that when you rip songs from a CD in Windows Media Player, that you choose the MP3 format (see instructions for that at http://www.askdavetaylor.com/produce_mp3_files_from_a_cd_with_windows_media_player.html ). 1) Add music to 360 via your "My Page/Top Page" BLAST. Click "Edit Blast", paste the URL address of the MP3 file in the URL field, add text to the blast, and save it. The visitor will need to click the play-button icon when it appears. Fileden, SnapDrive (with a paid account) or Ripaway are your best options for using music in your blast (other sites, like Imeem, don't allow hotlinking - meaning visitors would have to login to the site to hear the song).). 2) If you want a MUSIC PLAYER WIDGET or just a place to host INDIVIDUAL MP3 FILES for use in your blog, you can do it with music you upload OR you can use music other people have uploaded. YOUR FILES: Create a free account at http://www.imeem.com , http://www.esnips.com/ , http://www.fiql.com , or other similar services to upload the MP3 files, generate the EMBED code, and then copy and paste the player's EMBED code in a blog entry. At imeem.com the code can be set to include "autoplay" if you check the box next to the EMBED code. So, you can create a "playlist" as well as "individual MP3 files" for use in your blog. - Compose a new blog entry - Select the EMBED code you want to copy, then right-click to select "Copy." - Check the "View HTML Source" box, position your cursor and right-click to choose "Paste." Uncheck the box to get back to the regular blog screen. WARNING: Do not save your entry with out adding some text. Also, there may be some slight delay in getting the audio to appear. If you refresh the page, it will probably show up. * This method allows you to make music play automatically and create lists of music that don't require the user to log into an external site. However, when people visit your main page, the music will not play. They have to go directly to your blog and the blog page on which that entry is located. You can provide them with your blog URL which is http://blog.360.yahoo.com/[and the rest of your URL] ...without the brackets, of course. They can also click the blog link from the Top Page, to get to the first page of your blog where the music post should be located (at least until you add other posts). Other options are to tag the entry (see http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/blog/blog-31.html ) or highlight it (http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/blog/blog-28.html ) for easy access. The highlight option is at the bottom of your entry in Edit mode, if you click "Show Options". OTHER PEOPLE'S FILES: Create a free account at http://www.projectplaylist.com , http://www.seeqpod.com , http://www.last.fm/ , http://www.dizzler.com/ or other similar service. They allow you to search for songs ALREADY UPLOADED to their site or other sites. Then, you simply add those songs to a playlist. Generate the code for the widget. You may have to delete some extraneous Javascript code (between Style tags). Choose the EMBED code that applies to any site. If that's not available, try a MySpace version of the code. Embed the player according to the instructions under "Your Files" above. 3) Share your YAHOO LAUNCHCAST station - Click the "Share Music" link on your "My Page" almost directly under your profile photo on the left. - Check the box next to Launchcast Radio. If you don't already have a Launchcast station going, click the "My LAUNCHcast Station" link at the bottom of that box, then got to the Launchcast Radio drop down menu on the upper right of the new page. Select the "Create My Station" button - Come back to 360. Click the "Share Music" link again. Make sure to adjust your permissions in the upper right corner. - Then, click the "Save" button at the bottom. If this doesn't work, you can add a link to your station in your Profile (homepage area), Blast, Blog, or Blog Roll by following the instructions at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/music/launchcast/promoting/station-link.html 4) ADDING VIDEO (including, music videos): - Find the embed code for the video that you want to add. See http://www.youtube.com/sharing , for example. You can choose a video from Yahoo! Video, YouTube, or Google Video. - Click on "My Blog" and create a new entry. - Type some text in the actual entry space as well, as it might not save. - Click the box next to "View HTML source" in the upper right of the entry space before adding code. - Copy the embed code and paste it into the space. - Click the box next to "View HTML source" to get back to regular view if necessary. It may not show up until the entry is Previewed or Saved. - Click "Save" button and see if it appears. See http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/blog/blog-33.html for the help page regarding embedding video into your blog.
